Compact, purposeful and streamlined, the Restrap Aero Race Top Tube Bag proves that you don’t always need more space. While Restrap’s traditional top tube bags were originally created around the storage demands of bikepacking, one-day gravel racing calls for a different approach: easy access to essential items without the size and aerodynamic penalty associated with a larger bag.
Designed specifically for this purpose, the Aero Race Top Tube Bag provides practical capacity for enough energy gels to carry you between feed zones. Its low-profile shape sits neatly behind the stem and out of the wind, creating a compact solution that remains easily accessible while riding. Small in size but highly functional, it includes thoughtful features for competitive gravel riding.
The redesigned stiffener allows the bag to remain stable without requiring additional retention around the head tube. An internal foam base helps dampen rattles and reduce unwanted noise, while a stretch net pocket keeps a self-contained tyre plug tool securely stored and ready for immediate use when a puncture strikes.
Mounting is equally versatile. Frames without top tube bolts can use the supplied Fast Straps, while compatible bikes allow the straps to be removed for direct attachment. In either configuration, the Aero Race Top Tube Bag remains secure and stable, staying neatly out of the way while keeping essential items close at hand.

Fitting the Direct Mount Adaptors:

– Direct Mount Adapters are designed to be compatible with frames which have horizontal / in line M5 mounting positions on the dropouts.
– They can be installed onto frames with M5 mounting points on the seat stays, but it is important to ensure that these are horizontal and in line to avoid the rack from binding during installation.
– Direct Mount Adaptors are not designed to be compatible with frames which have M5 mounting positions angled upwards or inwards.
– For frames with 135mm and 142mm axles, set the adaptors so the short end is seated within the rack mounting point. For frames with 148mm (boost) axles, seat the adaptors so the long end is seated within the rack mounting point.
– Place the rack/adaptors over the frame and use the provided M5 bolts to secure.
– M5 bolts are provided in two lengths, 40mm and 50mm. The correct bolt depends on the spacing and thickness of the dropouts on your specific frame.
– It is important to ensure that the bolts used do not protrude more than 3-5mm from the inside of the dropouts when installed. This is to avoid any potential interference with your bikes disc brakes rotors or drivetrain.

Completing fitting the rack:

– Ensure the rubberised fabric strap is tightly wrapped around the seatpost or seat tube.
– Use velcro strap to tightly secure the seatpost/tube mount.
– Tighten all bolts.

Compatibility:

– Compatible with bikes with 135mm, 142mm and 148mm (Boost) spacing.
– Not designed for use with full-suspension frames.
